Chicago Bucket List

1/2/3/4/5/6

There are times when I forget how fortunate I am to be living just an hour outside of one of the country’s greatest cities. I have been downtown for plays, concerts, and field trips for school. But even after living just outside of Chicago for almost eighteen years, I still feel like a stranger to it. Even though I much prefer the slow countryside life to the busy hectic life of the city, I love living close to the city because of all it has to offer. These are a few things that I’ve always wanted to do in the Windy City. (By the way it’s not called that because it’s windy! If you don’t know why, check out the book The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson, or just Google it!)

PLACES TO STAY

Chicago Mart Plaza is located on top of the Chicago Sun-Times building in the heart of Chicago.

Looking for something luxurious? Check into Chicago’s Four Seasons! It’s most likely you’ve heard of these hotels since they have one in just about every major city.

The Wit Hotel is just minutes from Millennium Park and Michigan Ave. With such a striking design I wasn’t surprised to see this hotel being praised by Conde Nast Traveler. Which is one of my favorite sites for all things travel!

This picture does not do it justice. If you are familiar-ish with Chicago, you know what I’m talking about when I mention the wiggly and wavy building. I am talking about the Radisson Blu Hotel, how incredible is this building?

Y’all I saved the best for last, The Peninsula Chicago. I included the Chicago because they have these hotels all over the world, from Tokyo to Manila, to Paris! (Just for kicks I checked out the one in Paris, it’s stunning! I just about died after watching this video!) Every inch of this hotel is absolutely gorgeous!

WHERE TO EAT

They have Sprinkles ATMs in just about every major city, and Chicago is no exception!

Windy City Cafe just looks like the best place to drop in for some good brunch food, I was eyeing the french toast, it sounds so good!

If I were to only be able to stop at one place to grab a bite to eat, it would be Bang Bang Pie. Both my mom and I have been following their Instagram for a while now, and we’ve always wanted to drop in when we’re in the city. You can buy pies by the whole or slice, the sell several flavors including; Key Lime, Passion Fruit & Malted Milk Chocolate.

You CANNOT go to Chicago without stopping for some deep dish pizza, Lou Malnati’s is a great place to stop for this.

THINGS TO DO

When in Chicago, a great place to explore is Millennium Park. While I’ve been to the been several times, I have always wanted to go their for a concert or just for a run.

Located in Millennium Park is Lurie Garden, a beautiful and peaceful getaway from the hectic city life.

Promontory Point is a man-made peninsula, which looks so incredibly zen and beautiful.

Until I started researching, I never knew this Osaka Garden existed. It is just south of the Museum of Science and Industry, aka my favorite museum. It’s meant to resemble a traditional Japanese ‘stroll garden.’

Harold Washington Library is a giant, beautiful atrium to view the city from.

Where should I create a bucket list for next?
