I Left My Heart In...

My dad always said that I should go to a different college every year. My mom always said that I need a job where I get to travel.

I have always had an adoration of traveling. From the airports, to the airplanes, to trying new food, to staying at hotels. To just about everything aside from having to pack a suitcase, I am not a fan of packing! I was born and raised in the Chicago suburbs, in a town surrounded by a bubble that very few people manage to pop. I have never been one to enjoy having a routine, and taking trips provide new explorations, journeys, and experiences.

I find that when places are so extraordinary it leads to a struggle of trying to describe it. That's how I felt when visiting, and why I left my heart in San Antonio, Texas.

My sophomore year in high school my dad, my younger brother and I made a trip down to Texas. We had gone to a football game, spent a few days in Galveston, ate lots of BBQ, and made a last minute stop to the River Walk in San Antonio.

I had never heard of it, but my dad insisted that we go and let me tell you, I am glad we did! As I mentioned earlier, when describing this place it usually results in a conundrum. But I will give it a go anyway.

The San Antonio River Walk is a public park, lined with restaurants, hotels, and attractions. You can take a river boat tour down the river, where the guide will talk your ear off with fascinating facts all about the River Walk and San Antonio.

Even though I have never been, I felt like I was in Italy strolling down the street admiring the architecture and smelling pastries from the nearest bakery. Once we left, I felt...well indescribable. It is such a unique and remarkable place, and one of my favorite places on Earth.

  3. This is such a beautiful post! One of my favorite travel quotes is: "The world is a book, and those who do not travel see only a page."
