Shop Kelsey's Kloset Black Friday Promotion

I've never been one to go Black Friday shopping, maybe it's the insanity or the craziness or having to wake up before the sun. However, within the last year I've enjoyed shopping online in the comfort of my bed and still being able to get some great deals. I wanted to share with you another exciting sale that's happening over at Kelsey's Kloset. If you use the code: BLACKFRIDAY2015 you get 30% off your purchase. You also receive free shipping on orders over $100, and trust me with all their cute clothing and accessories it's easy to spend money on their site! You can also learn more about the sale, by visiting their Facebook Event. I wanted to show you a few items that caught my eye while I was perusing their site!

To say that I've been obsessed with these vests, would be the understatement of the year. They look so incredibly soft and comfy, plus they have pockets!!

Olive Oversized Cowl Neck Sweater - 1

I remember when I thought that turtlenecks were as ugly as my hair in the morning. That was until I realized how perfect and cute they are for the fall and winter time. I love this olive color and the slits on the side are such a cute detail.

Silver Shimmer Clutch - 1

Black Friday is the perfect time to stock up on things for the holidays. And what are the holidays without a little sparkle? (Sad...very sad!) This gorgeous clutch also comes in black.

Navy Fur Ball Beanie - 1

Last Saturday we were in Nashville for a football game. (Gig Em Aggies!) It was a freezing and the only thing that I had to keep my ears warm was my hair, which was usually blowing all around the place which didn't help much either. I realized that I need to find a cute hat that will keep me warm, and I think I've found it!

Shine Bright Mug

I think when I get older I'm going to need my own little pantry dedicated to mugs. There are just so many cute ones out there, including this one. I am not a coffee drinker, but I love to use a mug to drink iced tea, hot chocolate, or even water. A mug always seem to make things cozier!!

I hope you liked my little roundup, and I encourage you to shop small this year. While I do love my  J. Crew and my Nordstrom, shopping at small businesses helps promote the economy and the community! I will have all of Kelsey's Kloset's social media links below, for y'all to check out. (p.s their Instagram is so adorable)

Are you Black Friday shopping this year?

#GalPalHoliday: Thanksgiving Day Outfits

Is it just me or do the holidays always come up super fast? I can't believe it's already almost Thanksgiving, and then in a few short weeks it'll be Christmas!! I am here again to be participating in the #GalPalHoliday Linkup hosted by Cristina, Rachel & Cathleen. With Thanksgiving tomorrow, I will be sharing some cute outfits that will hopefully give you some inspiration. I will be spending the holiday at one of our family friend's houses, it's always super fun!

Thanksgiving #1

I am loving this camel color scheme, from the boots to the sweater. This color is perfect for the Thanksgiving time.

Thanksgiving #2

This look is a little bit out of my comfort zone, but I still really like how it all goes together. Also, its a great way to incorporate summer pieces, like this maxi skirt, and style them for the colder weather.

Thanksgiving #3

Over the knee boots have been my weakness this season, so of course I had to include them. Along with the famous blanket scarf, which always leaves an outfit looking ten times cuter.

Thanksgiving #4

I've been loving this maroon/purple military jacket, it just might make it onto my Christmas list. I love the simplicity of this outfit, and the colors are perfect for Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving #5

I can definitely see myself wearing this outfit tomorrow. It is super simple, but also really comfortable! These socks look so incredibly cozy!

I hope y'all have a great Thanksgiving! What are your plans for tomorrow?

Why Bloggers Need Snapchat

I am so glad that I finally got a new phone, to replace the scrap of metal that I had before. I had my phone for about five years and mustered up my inner lawyer and convinced my dad to let me get an upgrade. My phone could have starred in its very own horror movie, because I'm guaranteed that it was possessed. I was only able to open a few apps, thank the heavens Instagram was included in that selected list, and on a good day I was able to send a text message. I know, first world problem.

If you're still reading after that big long spiel, I grant you with a mental high five, Barney Stinson style!

Unfortunately, one of several apps that weren't functioning on my old phone included Snapchat. With my new phone I am excited to be using Snapchat in order to help promote my blog again. Here's a few reasons why I think bloggers should consider setting up a Snapchat account. Aside from making rainbows come out of your mouth, using Snapchat can provide a unique platform to interact with other bloggers and readers.

Behind the Scenes

I have briefly touched on this before, about the 'perfect' image that people try to portray of themselves on social media, especially Instagram. I love how Snapchat provides a behind the scenes look, if you will of our everyday lives. Our stories on Snapchat are unstaged and provide the not so glamorous side of blogging.

Strip It Down

So I thought this would be the perfect way to interject one of Luke Bryan's songs in this post. Anyway, just the other day I was watching on e of my favorite YouTuber's videos, Meredith or Southernbelle606. Her video was entitled as the Stripped Down Challenge. For this video challenge she talked for ten minutes straight about everything and anything. She then wasn't allowed to edit her video over the parts where she messed up her words or when she got distracted. The whole idea of the video challenge was to show that YouTubers are not perfect and that they make mistakes. While blogging and YouTube are very different, there are also some similarities. Both of us all can sometimes feel the need to be a perfectionist within the media. That is one of my favorite aspects of Snapchat. It shows me wearing sweatpants that I've owned since freshman year, or a photo of my sitting on my bed on my phone at three in the afternoon. It reveals the stripped down, real me!

It's Simple

Unlike taking an Instagram photo, or a picture for my blog, my Snapchats are never staged. If I'm at Target, which I usually am most of the week, and I see a cute Christmas onesie I just take a quick snap and bam, I'm done! There is a lot less pressure on Snapchat, which makes it fun and super easy to add pictures on it.

I have always found that I have the longest conversations with other bloggers on Snapchat. Whether it be about the beauty that is Costco or our favorite ice cream flavor. I enjoy getting to know my fellow bloggers more and more through this app!

As most social media platforms do, they offer a promotional aspect for your blog. It can be as simple as showing a quick sneak preview of tomorrow's post or letting everyone know you just posted. It's a quick and easy way to promote your blog.

I almost forgot! My Snapchat username is: @anchoreditsouth

Do you have a Snapchat? What are your thoughts on it?

4 Reasons You're Ready to Rebrand your Blog

It was way back in July that I decided that I needed a better fitting blog name and design. I knew it was going to be a lot of work, especially since I wanted to design my blog on my own. I'm really proud to say that I'm the one who designed my blog, with help from other tutorials found on Pinterest of course. These were some of the things that ran through my head and led me to rebranding my blog.

1 // Your blog name doesn't represent your brand.

When deciding on a new blog name I considered a lot of options. I was even talking with other bloggers as they gave me more suggestions and ideas. Make sure that the blog name you select you won't get tired of in a month from now. You want your blog name to be a representation of you and your blog.

2 // You want to focus on a new or specific topic.

A lot of posts I have read have highlighted the importance of having a niche. If you decide on a new niche a rebrand is a great way to change your blog name and design to better fit your targeted audience.

3 // You're tired of your design.

When I first started blogging for Sincerely, Syd I was using a free pre-made template which means that other bloggers could access it as well and we'd have the same blog design. I wanted my blog to have a unique and aesthetically pleasing design, and ultimately that led me to starting a rebrand.

4 // You're not feeling inspired.

As I mentioned before, I didn't like the look of my blog and that resulted in me feeling discouraged and uninspired. It's crazy how many blog post ideas I've garnered during and after my rebrand!

I truly hope this post helps you decide if you're ready for a rebrand or not, for me it was a lot of work, but I am so happy with the end result! If you having anymore questions regarding rebranding or anything for that matter, send me an email:

I am so excited to finally be sharing my newly designed/branded blog! This change from Sincerely, Syd to Anchored in the South is a huge milestone in my blogging career, and I can't wait to see what this new blog has to offer me. Today, I wanted to take a look back at all the things I accomplished while writing Sincerely, Syd. Goodness knows that my first few months of blogging could be compared to middle school, embarrassing and horrific. I'm warning you now, not to look at any of my posts made in 2014! But I am proud of where my blog is now, so without further ado let's take a look at my lovely memories thus far:

Collaborating with a lot of fabulous bloggers & brands:

Bloggers Get Cookin' Linkup (I was so proud that I only messed up one batch) // Scentbird

Turning 17 and no longer being able to sing "I am sixteen going on seventeen"

My First Outfit Photos which are always fun to look back at for a good laugh!

Being nominated several times for the Liebster Blog Award!

Hosting my own linkup!!

And most importantly, I am SO incredibly grateful for everyone that I have met through blogging. It is a very unique and welcoming community, and unlike anything I've ever been apart of. I sincerely thank you if you have ever commented on my blog, liked one of my pixelated photos on Instagram, or just simply decided to stop for a quick moment. I love that I have this little piece of the internet that I can call mine and be able to share with all of you! The outlet that blogging provides me is something that I cherish...Okay this is starting to sound like a Nicholas Sparks novel. I will let you get on your way, and I do hope you stop by soon!

Other Quick Announcements:

I have just reopened my Ad Shop, where you can directly purchase ad spots
on my blog. With the new relaunch I thought it'd be a great way to include a few promo codes. If you are interested in purchasing my Newsletter Feature Ad you can use the code RELAUNCH for $5 off. Unfortunately I only have one spot open, but I still have other advertising opportunities.

With that being said, feel free to subscribe to Anchored in the South's Email Newsletters. It's an easy way to stay updated with my blog! Only one email will be sent out each month to prevent spam because that's never fun!
Monday, November 9, 2015

Hey everybody, I hope y'all are doing well! I wanted to make a quick and exciting announcement. As you can guess by the title of this post, I am finally going to be having a blog relaunch. I have been working on rebranding and redesigning my blog for the past few months, and I am ready to unveil it. I will, of course, be going in the reasoning and the process of my rebranding once I've relaunched. I have loving blogging for Sincerely, Syd but I want my name and design to better fit who I am and what my blog represents!

Official Blog Relaunch Date: November 14th

November Playlist

One thing that I want to incorporate more in my blog is music! I love music, especially country music. Each month I'm going to share a few of my favorite songs, and hopefully it will give you some more inspiration! Do you ever wonder why a certain part of a song always gets stuck in your head, I watched this Ted Talk video that addresses why that happens.

What song have you been listening to on repeat?

Currently Craving

I am still in awe when I look at the calendar to see that it's already November. I blame the weather lately for making me think it's still September. This past week the temperature has been in the 70s, which is unheard of for Chicago at this time of the year! Still, I have been 'craving' anything fall-esque, comfy, and cozy!

One can never have too many
white cable knit sweaters!

These skirts have been one of my favorite new trends for fall,
I love the beige color of this skirt!

These 'mock' turtlenecks have also been one of my favorite fall trends,
and I love this charcoal gray color that will go with a lot of things!

I've had my eye on this pair of OTK boots for forever. I love the simplicity
of them and since they're from American Eagle you know they're good quality.

All I have to say about this necklace is...GORGEOUS!

I have never seen anything like these rings! I love the colors
of both of them, and they will match a ton of things!

How has the weather been where you live?

October In vs. Out Linkup

I am very excited to be participating in this In vs. Out Linkup hosted by Allison over at Because I Say So. Each month we recap what's 'in' and what's 'out' for the month, lets get started!

Blog Relaunch?! // I have been working hard on my new blog design, and I am so proud with how everything is turning out. Stay tuned, as there will be a countdown and a giveaway in anticipation to my new blog relaunch!

Friends // Can I please marry Chandler Bing?

Music // Hello by Adele & Die a Happy Man by Thomas Rhett

Hip Pains // During cross-country season I was having a LOT of hip pains. The season ended two weeks ago, so I've been giving myself a resting period. I went running the other day and the pain immediately resurfaced and continued to hurt. I have a 5k race this Saturday, please pray that the pain will hopefully lessen when it comes around.

Politics // Can Donald Trump please go away now?

Cold Weather // I'm absolutely insane, and I hate the cold even if it means being able to wear cute sweaters and scarves, I much prefer humidity and sun.

Blogger's Block // With my new blog design taking up a lot of my thoughts and time, I apologize for my lack of posting. I want to keep posting through my redesign, and I'd love any blog post suggestions.

What are your in's and out's for October?
